In Short
“Leadership is a skill.” I don’t buy this idea completely. As our society tends to value charismatic leaders with words and demeanors, these traits are also from personality. Therefore, I think “Leadership is both skill and personality.”
It is then our mission to understand our own personality and develop leadership skills according to it. Below are actions that lead to skills related to eCommerce, ultimately to outstanding leadership in the field.
My favorite explanation and guide on leadership are from a book called Hiring Guideline: More Important than Your Brain and Logical Thinking by Yasuyo Iga.

1. Actions to become a true leader
- Set a goal : it must be inspiring to your team; achievable and rewarding.
- Take a lead : be a lead runner, set the pace so that followers can run without worrying.
- Make a call : take a responsibility of the situation and decide to move forward.
- Tell a story : people lose their way, you must remind them consistently with inspiring stories.
2. eCommerce Leader

If I need to pick 1 out of 4 actions above, I will choose “Take a Lead.” It is the most fundamental aspect of LEADership.
Because when you take the lead,
– you show others that you have a goal.
– you do first.
– you make a decision to move forward.
– you speak with your action.
In terms of eCommerce, then it would be to roll up sleeves and drive new traffic into your channel.
