Why: We want to convince you about how your perception affects your copy effectiveness so that you can start communicating to all people online, or at least to most.

Did you know personality is very stable, we don’t change our perception, we change our reaction?

In a flash, here is how you can communicate, taking different perceptions into account!

In Short

Perception of things around us is based much on our beliefs and personality. We all have a cognitive limit in sensing and in thinking. Do you know this famous Monkey Business Illusion?

Yes, we focus on one thing and lose the others. It proves a simple concept:

While we all are looking at the same thing, does not mean that all of us perceive the same information.

1. Knowing Your Preference

A common way to find out how you actually perceive your world is by taking MBTI training. Yes, not just the online test with 4-letter type identification. The tangible take-away happens when you actively discuss in the group and realize how different we all see things.

The main question here is that after we are AWARE, we perceive and construct our reality on it. How can we be open and consider other realities that others perceive?

Taking back to Monkey Business Illusion, if you didn’t see the black gorilla in the video, how could you believe when others tell you that it was there, and you just happened to miss this super odd incident!!!?

By knowing that you also, as a human, have a preference.

2. Out Of Comfort Zone

Admitting that your reality is constructed based on your INCOMPLETE perception of the world around is a massive step out of your comfort zone.

It is like a magic trick. Oh, wait. The magic trick uses this human incapability of perception? HaHaHa jokes on you that are correct.

Practicing deliberately stepping out there is going to be a lifetime journey. Yes, it will be. But, being open to what others tell you you saw but did not perceive is like trying to approve the magic trick in the opposite direction.

When you see a magic trick, you tell yourself: “No, there must be something I missed.”
As a contrast to normal daily life, where you tell: “No, I have not missed anything at all.”

3. Perceivable Content

What I mean by perceivable content is that you consider your preference and add a missing point of view that you usually don’t think of.

This has to do much with aspects of our personality: sensing or intuitive, thinking or feeling.

If your preference is intuition, your content might be too abstract for people who prefer sensing.
If your preference is feeling, your content might not be clear-cut on what the priority is.

Conclusion

It is hard to accept others’ reality. But, this is a practice that you can do daily and better understand others, especially your customers. In addition, it will help you produce content that everyone can make use of.

And hopefully, with this skillful communication, your business online will start making a lot more sense.
